Diversity training

Lego© Serious Play©

Are you looking for an accessible, experiential introduction to the topic of “diversity”? If so, we recommend our workshop, in which we use the Lego® Serious Play® method to make the topic of “diversity in organizations” tangible for your employees.

Lego® Serious Play® has proven itself as an innovative thinking tool for addressing complex issues and revealing even the subtle, hidden factors at play. Your employees will explore the question, “What significance does the topic of diversity hold for our company?” The focus is particularly on an in-depth discussion of the models created, which leads to new ideas and perspectives. The structured approach using LEGO® builds on the proven hand-brain connection aims at stimulating dormant creative potential.

You will be surprised by the insights and discoveries you arrive at “playfully,” which you can then utilize when introducing the topic and related processes within your company.

In this diversity training, your employees will be made aware of the most important aspects of diversity. Ethnic Background and Nationality

Do you want to be an attractive employer for people of other nationalities? Is it important to you that your skilled workers and teams reflect the cultural diversity you also find among your customers and business partners? This brings numerous benefits for your company: You tap into new markets, refine your products, gain an edge in global competition, and retain your skilled workers and managers in the long term.

In our diversity training sessions focused on “Cultural Equity (Ethnicity and Nationality),” we help you unlock the full potential of your ethnically diverse workforce and create the conditions for an inclusive environment where all employees feel respected, and valued.

You will become more aware of cultural differences and commonalities and learn how to successfully integrate foreign cultures into your own corporate culture. You will develop ideas for enhancing intercultural competence within your organization and discover ways to effectively engage foreign professionals.

Gender Diversity

We are all familiar with the complaints from the political and social spheres: The proportion of women in well-paid jobs is too low and bears no relation to their qualifications. Women are severely underrepresented in executive suites. What is the percentage of women in your company? Beyond the issue of gender equality, are there business-related reasons for having a higher proportion of women in leadership positions?

The answer is a resounding yes! A recent McKinsey study concludes that companies where women hold leadership positions generate higher profits!

In our diversity training sessions focused on “gender diversity,” you will become aware of the impact of corporate culture and leadership philosophy on gender equality within your own company and reflect on traditional stereotypes of men and women. We explain the benefits of gender diversity for communication and decision-making processes, as well as its advantages for recruitment and retention. Tips for gender-equitable information and communication round off this training.

Age Diversity

Demographic change and the shortage of skilled workers make age diversity a key factor for your company’s success. As great as its positive potential is, the negative consequences are just as severe, if age diversity is not managed effectively within companies.

As age diversity increases, so does age discrimination—in both directions. Established employees do not take the ideas and methodological knowledge of their younger colleagues serious, and younger employees consider the working methods and experience of their older colleagues to be outdated. Yet both groups have much to learn from each other and can complement one another to great advantage. The key is to leverage this complementary knowledge effectively for the company’s success. In our diversity training sessions focused on “age diversity,” you will reflect on stereotypical notions of “old” and “young” and learn the benefits of treating one another with respect.

By shifting your perspective, you will increase mutual understanding and recognize the benefits of age diversity for teamwork and the company’s progress and sustainability. Tips for leading age-diverse teams and teamwork in general will help you apply what you have learnt to your daily work.

Diversity training

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Many tasks in today’s complex business world can only be successfully tackled by interdisciplinary or cross-functional teams. Without the technical input and wealth of experience from various disciplines and departments, (R&D, Marketing, Finance & Accounting etc.), innovative and creative solutions to complex problems are virtually unthinkable. Despite this realization, interdisciplinary teams often perform significantly poorer than conventional groups. This is because the convergence of different thinking styles, working methods and values must be well managed as otherwise, frustration and chaos are likely to ensue.

With our diversity “Working in Cross-Functional Teams” we focus on two key areas: interdisciplinary competence and the techniques of interdisciplinary collaboration:

You will develop your approach to dealing with diversity and ambiguity further and learn about the importance of cohesion for interdisciplinary collaboration and how it can be enhanced. You will test methods and collaboration tools that enable you to use communication effectively and integrate knowledge from different disciplines.

Inclusive Leadership - Leading Diverse Teams Successfully

As a leader, you are responsible for building trust, fostering strong relationships and creating effective teams. This is often challenging with diverse teams, and it requires a range of leadership skills and tools to ensure that a team does not falter due to its heterogeneous composition but instead can fully leverage the empirically proven benefits of diversity.

In this diversity training, you will familiarize yourself with the importance of diversity and inclusion in the context of inclusive leadership and reflect on your own leadership philosophy. You will recognize the impact of unconscious bias on your team’s performance and learn about available countermeasures. You will discover a range of practical methods and tools for inclusive leadership and practice implementing them.

This will make it easier for you to build and foster trust and psychological safety among your diverse team members.
